Just imagine a future where households and businesses can generate their own energy and sell it back to the grid, ultimately connecting communities and empowering lives. Are you ready to play your part in an evolving industry?

Ausgrid is on an exciting transformation journey and now is the time to be a part of something big. We are proud to service Australia’s east coast, as a leading business in energy distribution, delivering a safe and reliable electricity supply to more than 1.8 million homes – that’s over four million Australians relying on us every day.

Our vision is simple; for our communities to have the power for a resilient, affordable net zero future.

We take pride in knowing that the work we collectively achieve today, will transform the world tomorrow. We value a culture of working and living safely, being customer focussed, commercially minded, collaborative, honest, accountable, and respectful. Our values are not just initiatives driven by leaders; they define the way we work.

Your new role

As Project Delivery/Engineering Officer you will manage and/or coordinate projects or programs of work for execution by field-based employees such as planning and delivery, or the end‐to‐end process as well as engineering related or technical activities to ensure the safety, reliability, sustainable and affordability of the network for our customers. Your day to day will range from coordinating network outages to enable completion of projects or work activities, managing the costs or financial impacts of work activities in line with standard jobs, unit rates, budgets and estimates. You will utilise relevant systems and databases in the planning, execution or closure phases of work delivery, planning the labour, plant, equipment, materials and contracted services to enable a smooth scheduled delivery and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, as appropriate, to ensure safe and effective execution of work and attend to or resolve the resolution of customer complaints in the planning phase of work. You will apply field experience during the planning of works to proactively identify and resolve both routine and complex issues and provide technical advice to support safe and effective field execution.

Spark our interest!

Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude, and alignment to our core values.

We are looking for someone who holds knowledge and experience in the electrical network and/or infrastructure industry, or other relevant utility experiences with proven technical knowledge in engineering applications.

You will hold a Class C Drivers Licence, an electrical based trade (Electrician, Line Worker or Cable Jointer) or an Advanced Diploma in an electrical or closely-related engineering discipline (or be working towards a relevant qualification) and have extensive knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking or managing multiple tasks and/or projects and prioritising activities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team environment to effectively deliver projects or work outcomes within appropriate time frames and costs
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with a variety of stakeholders, including the resolution of complaints/issues
  • Experience in monitoring costs and financial impacts across work activities, projects or programs of work
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience in a variety of software packages, tools, hardware or general applications
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of both written and system based project/work activity documentation
  • Proven experience in problem solving and the identification or implementation of solution

Your application will be at an advantage if you have experience in:

  • Management of projects or programs or elements of these
  • Planning, coordinating or supervising of work activities and/or resources
  • Use of CAD or other design related software
  • Use of various engineering and project related systems including Primavera, SAP, MyWork and SRR
  • The application of design and other relevant engineering related principles
  • Investigating and advising on the rectification of supply system faults
  • Contributing to the planning for restoration of network breakdowns or incidents
