About the RoleWe are currently looking for permanent HV Electricians at our Western Australia Iron Ore Mine Sites. Reporting to the High Voltage Electrical Supervisor the role will require the safe operation of the BHP Port Hedland transmission and distribution systems for high and low voltage equipment. Role will include the maintenance, testing, commissioning, and breakdown recovery of all parts of BHP Port transmission and distribution systems. Duties include:
- Preparing and executing high voltage switching programs, isolations, and permits
- Plant maintenance and testing of switchgear, cabling and transformers
- Protection relay secondary injection and protection scheme testing
- HV equipment Installation & Commissioning
- Fault diagnosis and recovery of plant
- Use of 1SAP for maintenance activities
- Ensure all procedures are followed to maintain safety standards
- Work independently and part of the HV maintenance team
- C Class Driver's Licence
- WA "A" Grade Electrical License
- Proven experience and competency in High Voltage Switching and isolations
- Good computer skills: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key components of this role as you will work with closely with a variety of stakeholders
- Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (SAP experience is highly desirable)
- The ability to apply expertise to analyse and solve problems
- Strong experience with HV electrical equipment and systems specific to mining and utilities (including diagnosis and fault finding substations, switchgear and transformers)
- Protection testing and commissioning skills and experience
- Certificate III in ESI: Distribution - advantageous
- HV cable jointing - advantageous
- HIAB, EWP, Forklift, Dogging and Rigging Certificates - advantageous
