Are you a passionate educator with a love for literature and language arts? We're seeking a dynamic English teacher to join our team and inspire students to become critical readers, skilled writers, and lifelong learners.
About Us:
Believe in the power of language to shape our world and transform lives. Our English program is designed to ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and empower students to express themselves with confidence and clarity. We're committed to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced English teacher who is dedicated to teaching literature and language arts. As a key member of our faculty, you'll have the opportunity to impart critical reading and writing skills while nurturing students' intellectual curiosity and love for learning.
  • Key Responsibilities Include: Facilitating a Creative Environment: Create a supportive and inclusive classroom where students feel inspired to explore, create, and express themselves. Incorporate various teaching methods and resources to cater to different learning styles, ensuring that all students feel valued and engaged.
  • Teaching Essential Skills: Develop comprehensive lesson plans that address important reading, writing, and English language skills. Utilize a variety of texts, from classic literature to contemporary works, to expose students to diverse perspectives and genres.
  • Mastering Learning Objectives: Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum with grade-level learning objectives and standards. Implement formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Fostering Motivation and Resilience: Cultivate a growth mindset in students, encouraging them to embrace challenges and view mistakes as opportunities for learning and growth. Provide constructive feedback and support to help students build confidence in their abilities.
  • Cultivating Appreciation: Foster a love for literature and language arts by creating meaningful connections between texts and students' lives. Lead discussions that encourage critical thinking and analysis, allowing students to explore themes, characters, and symbolism in depth.
  • Imparting Critical Thinking: Engage students in thought-provoking discussions and activities that develop their analytical and problem-solving skills. Pose open-ended questions that encourage students to think critically and draw connections between texts and real-world issues.
  • Creating Engaging Lessons: Develop dynamic lesson plans that incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, such as group work, multimedia presentations, and project-based learning. Use technology to enhance instruction and provide interactive learning experiences for students.
  • Employing Diverse Materials: Select learning materials that reflect the diversity of our world, including texts by authors from different cultural backgrounds and perspectives. Create a classroom library that offers students a wide range of reading options to explore their interests and broaden their horizons.
  • Assessing Student Progress: Use a variety of assessment methods, including written assignments, presentations, and discussions, to evaluate student learning. Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Communicating Classroom Culture: Establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures that promote a positive and respectful learning environment. Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure alignment and support student success.
Position:
This is a full-time ongoing position, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and contribute to the rich tapestry of Catholic education. The successful applicant will hold a Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration and demonstrate a genuine commitment to Catholic education and the welfare of our students.
