ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Environmental Advisor to join the team at our Cooljarloo Mine site, which is just out of Cataby in Western Australia. 

Our site is located 2hrs drive / 170km to the North of Perth CBD. This is a Drive-In Drive-Out (DIDO) role where you will stay at our village with meals and accommodation provided during whilst on site.

Working a 9 day fortnight (WK1: Mon- Fri / Wk2: Mon – Thurs) as a member of the Environmental team, your primary focus will be on ensuring day-to-day operations are compliant with all environmental reporting and regulatory requirements. 

The Environmental Advisor will;

  • Assist with the delivery of environmental management programs such as post mining rehabilitation, groundwater management, pollution control, waste and greenhouse reduction.
  • Maintain all environmental procedures, manuals, guidance documents, records, and updates relevant documentation in accordance with company policy and ISO14001 certification standards. 
  • Participate in risk assessments, providing specialist input on managing environmental hazards and complying with regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute towards the completion of environmental monitoring and management of sustainability data via relevant computer systems.
  • Assist with completing environmental inspections, ensuring that recommendations are communicated with departments and implemented.
  • Conduct relevant environmental training sessions with all departments, to communicate HSE procedures. 
  • Develop and implement environmental rehabilitation plans and strategies to restore land impacted by mining activities.
  • Oversee the implementation of rehabilitation activities, ensuring compliance with Tronox standards.
  • Assist consultants/contractors in undertaking environmental field monitoring, rehabilitation works and management activities.
ABOUT YOU

Essential Criteria 

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as an Environmental Advisor with field experience.
  • Relevant environmental tertiary qualification.
  • Have full working rights in Australia, with no restrictions, sponsorship is not available.

Demonstrated Skills & Attributes

  • Environmental Knowledge: A deep understanding of environmental science principles, including ecology, hydrology, soil science, and air quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, and requirements for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing mining operations.
  • Risk Assessment: The ability to conduct environmental risk assessments and impact assessments to identify potential environmental hazards and risks associated with mining activities.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, including the ability to analyze environmental monitoring data, GIS data, and remote sensing data.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effectively communicating environmental information, regulations, and requirements to stakeholders, including employees, regulators, and community members.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: The ability to engage with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills for identifying environmental challenges, developing innovative solutions, and addressing issues. 
  • Adaptability: The capacity to adapt to changing environmental conditions, regulations, and project requirements is important for effectively managing environmental risks and ensuring compliance with evolving standards.
  • Collaboration: The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, geologists, safety professionals, and regulatory specialist.
