The Opportunity?
The Environment Department at Northern Star currently has a great opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisorto join us on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Principal Environmental Advisor and based at our Subiaco Head Office, the successful candidate will be supported by an experienced and high-quality team and will be responsible for the development of approval applications, maintaining compliance with our Environmental Management System (EMS) and legal obligations, as well as providing support across our WA sites as and when required.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Assist in the coordination of environmental approvals processes across Northern Star's Australian Operations
- Prepare, review and submit environmental approval documents as required, in line with project time frames and deadlines.
- Work efficiently and effectively with a multitude of key stakeholders, including regulators.
- Work within the EMS and support policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and oversee technical studies, as well as participate in sustainability and business improvement projects.
- Support Northern Star's site Environmental Teams, which will involve travel to site, and include working a full 8-day swing from time to time.
About you?
With extensive (5+ years) experience within a mining or resources environment, you have extensive experience in a similar environmental role, and possess a genuine passion for delivering positive outcomes across your portfolio.
The following will see you set for success in this role:
- Hold a Tertiary Qualification in an Environmental related field.
- Experience with and a sound working knowledge of WA environmental approval processes and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience working on site, ideally within WA.
- A thorough knowledge of environmental legislation, pertaining to the mining industry.
- Experience using and a sound working knowledge of EMS, technical programmes, data systems and databases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative & functional relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
- The ability to lead from the front and by example to help drive successful outcomes and achieve departmental objectives and deliverables.
- Well organised, with the ability to anticipate and plan for potential senarios across your key responsibility areas.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, with the ability to multitask effectively, in a dynamic & outcome focused environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
