Role Summary:
The Senior Environmental Advisor (Approvals) role is an opportunity in our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Strategy, Planning & Projects Team based at our Forrest Centre Head Office (CBD).
Working within an environmental approvals team, the purpose of this role is to support Synergy in obtaining planning and environmental approvals for future generation and storage assets.
Key responsibilities of the role include, but not limited to, the following:
- Provide strategic advice for obtaining environmental and planning approvals, identifying approval pathways and potential risks and opportunities for renewable energy projects (for example wind farms and battery energy storage systems).
- Co-ordination, management, and delivery of environmental approvals for linear infrastructure and renewable energy, including Part IV and Part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
- Scope, manage, co-ordinate and technically review environmental studies for renewable energy project approvals.
- Provision of guidance to the internal design team to align with planning and environmental approvals.
- Stakeholder engagement and consultation, including project team, regulators, and local government.
What you’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualification in environment or planning related studies (e.g., BSc, BEng, BA or equivalent degree).
- Strong understanding of environmental and planning legislation relevant to approvals for linear infrastructure and renewable energy.
- Demonstrated ability in co-ordination, management, and delivery of environmental and/or planning approvals for linear infrastructure or renewable energy, including Part IV and Part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and development applications.
- Project management experience in managing and delivery of approvals, whilst maintaining a positive team culture.
- Ability to collaboratively work in a high-pressure delivery environment, demonstrating organisational and time management skills.
