The role of the Environmental Health Officer (EHO) is to protect and improve public and Environmental Health by delivering and enforcing the statutory food, public and Environmental Health risk and evidence based programs, to ensure Council meets its responsibilities under legislation, and to provide the community with a healthy and supportive environment. In this permanent full time position, we are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of our values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:Highly develop interpersonal skills including:Written and verbal communication Conflict resolution and negotiation skillsAbility to work autonomously and in a teamCustomer serviceProblem solvingAbility to manage and achieve objectives, multi-task and effectively coordinate inputs from stakeholders whilst being resilient, flexible and being able to cope with change in a shifting environmentEffective personal management skills to consistently achieve high quality work outputs, the ability to prioritise, and capacity to embrace technological advancements and improvements in regulatory methodsDemonstrated experience working as an EHO including:Competent in the assessment of food premises, environmental nuisances, on-site wastewater treatment systems and other relevant areas of environmental and public health.Professionally, proactively, and autonomously undertake regulation and compliance activities with diverse stakeholders with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make and communicate decisions, manage conflict, and influence outcomes.If you are interested, for further information and instructions on how to apply please go to the employment page of our website at www.launceston.tas.gov.au and download the Employment Information Pack for this position.
