The Opportunity:

Talis is seeking an enthusiastic, team-centric Environmental/Sustainability/Waste Consultant or waste industry professional with some environmental management experience to join its consulting team on the beautiful NSW South Coast. 

• Great training and growth opportunities for the right candidate 
• Opportunity to work on a mix of waste management, resource recovery and environmental projects across metropolitan and regional areas along the eastern seaboard. 
• You will be required to both lead and manage your own projects, and to assist our principal waste and environmental consultants deliver innovative and practical solutions to our growing client base. 

Within this Nowra based role, you will also get the opportunity to work closely with the company’s Newcastle, Brisbane, and Perth offices, working alongside some of the most respected consultants within the waste, resource recovery and circular economy industries. Talis is particularly focused on developing opportunities for clients within the areas of sustainability, resource recovery, development of a circular economy and carbon accounting.

The position duties include, but are not limited:

• Development of strategic plans;
• Technology assessments;
• Feasibility studies and business cases;
• Tender processes for waste management services;
• Environmental approvals;
• Recycling and Organics awareness and education strategies;
• Service reviews;
• Disaster/Emergency waste management plans;
• Fieldwork and site visits;
• Funding applications; and
• Assistance on waste/recycling infrastructure projects. 

 Position Requirements:

• Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Degree or similar;
• Preferably 1-5 years’ experience in Waste Management/Environmental consultancy or the industry in general;
• Strong desire to achieve sustainable waste management, resource recovery and/or circular economy outcomes;
• An understanding of waste management and resource recovery issues and challenges;
• Strong analytical, original-thinking and report-writing skills;
• Strong excel capability; and
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in written form with staff, managers, and clients.
