Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.Roster: Monday to Friday. Perth based with occasional site travel required.Fortescue is seeking a Principal or Lead Process Engineer to join the Technical Services Process Engineering team. The role is responsible for providing technical support for all phases of project evaluation studies through ore body definition, test work and process plant design, and is working closely with Metallurgy, Engineering and Mine Planning teams. Both levels are encouraged to apply and will be considered.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of Process Engineers.
  • Support studies through process plant flowsheet development and evaluation.
  • Develop and manage testwork programs to progress project evaluation.
  • Deliver modelling requirements and to develop mass balances and Process Design Criteria.
  • Generate process related deliverables and documentation for modelling, test work and project evaluation and delivery.
  • Work closely with Metallurgy and Mine Planning teams to improve ore body knowledge and regression predictions.
  • Work closely with Engineering to optimise process plant design and cost.
  • Engage OEM vendors for equipment details and new technologies.
  • Manage capital budgets, workflow, team deliverables.
  • Ensure correct application of Health & Safety standards.
  • Oversee technical quality, integrity and adequacy of designs.
  • Lead and develop a team of Process Engineers.
  • Support studies through process plant flowsheet development and evaluation.
  • Develop and manage testwork programs to progress project evaluation.
  • Deliver modelling requirements and to develop mass balances and Process Design Criteria.
  • Generate process related deliverables and documentation for modelling, test work and project evaluation and delivery.
  • Work closely with Metallurgy and Mine Planning teams to improve ore body knowledge and regression predictions.
  • Work closely with Engineering to optimise process plant design and cost.
  • Engage OEM vendors for equipment details and new technologies.
  • Manage capital budgets, workflow, team deliverables.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years in mineral processing industry with technical development experience (operator or EPCM).
  • Process engineering experience on major mineral processing projects working on materials handling, crushing, screening and wet physical beneficiation process plant.
  • Experience in Dense Medium Separation processes is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in phases of mining project studies and development.
  • Strong MS office skill and experience with process simulation are required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus.
