Join our team as an Events and Engagement Officer, where you'll play a pivotal role in planning and delivering a diverse array of academic Events and Engagement activities. Reporting to the School Manager and collaborating closely with School, Faculty, and University colleagues, you will become a trusted partner for academic staff, helping them achieve professional, high-quality engagement through various Events and activities.In this role, you will support the School's engagement program, which is dedicated to the creation and dissemination of academic knowledge. Working alongside the School's Executive Support Officer, Arts Engagement and Partnerships team and the Faculty Events Coordinator, you will embed best-practice processes for event delivery and governance. You will utilise your expertise in written communication to prepare newsletters and other communications for both internal and external audiences, as well as promotional copy when needed.If you are passionate about academic engagement and skilled in event planning and communication, we invite you to apply and contribute to our vibrant academic community.Your responsibilities will include:
- Assist in preparing and maintain the School's program of academic-focused Events and Engagement activities.
- Co-Coordinate the School's event proposal and approval processes, working closely with the School's Executive Support Officer,Faculty Events Coordinator, Arts Engagement and Partnerships team.
- Work with academic event organisers to provide comprehensive event management and delivery support.
- Provide administrative support to relevant events, engagement, and partnership committees.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned event coordinator with a proven track record of managing both in-person and virtual events, seamlessly engaging a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.With a sharp eye for potential risks, you excel at developing proactive mitigation plans, keeping events on track and stress-free, while your adaptability allows you to work well under pressure to skillfully resolve unexpected challenges.You will also have:
- Experience managing or coordinating in-person and virtual events involving a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience using event management systems and platforms; e.g. Eventbrite, Cvent, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and identify event-related risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
The School is home to more than 100 academic staff and 60 full-time equivalent graduate researchers across Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, ESL, European Studies and modern European language and culture studies in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Latin American Studies and Russian. Upwards of 70 events are organised annually, including research seminars, symposiums, book launches, and academic conferences.What We Offer You!
