Your new role
An exciting opportunity is available for an Events and Engagement Officer to join the Sport and Recreation team at Curtin University. This position is primarily responsible for assisting third party event organisers who have booked the use of the Stadium facilities whilst contributing to the marketing, engagement planning of key Sport and RecreationEvents and programs as noted below.
In this role, you will oversee:
Event Management:
- Responding to venue hire enquiries and working with clients to secure bookings
- Ensuring clients adhere to the University events requirements and submit all required documentation
- Planning and coordination of staff to set up the event and assist throughout the event
- Liaising with other University departments and stakeholders of upcoming third party events
- Coordinating a small selection of internal events including VC Sports Day (in conjunction with the Sports team), annual Sport Awards and Sport and Recreation presence on campus during orientation weeks.
- Promotion of programs, services and facilities to students, staff and the wider community
- Development of content for distribution through various channels including social media platforms, website and to various stakeholders
- Contribution to and rollout of the annual Sport and Recreation marketing and promotional plan
- Planning and coordination of on campus activations to encourage student participation communications to key stakeholders
- Providing marketing and communications support to all areas of Sport and Recreation as required
- Genuine interest and experience in events, marketing, and communications
- A strong desire to have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of others’ lives.
- Ability to work across a diverse range of programs and services and engage with varying stakeholders.
- Enthusiasm for innovation, creative thinking and building a welcoming community where student’s feel comfortable having a go.
- Demonstrated, effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team with the ability to develop relationships across a large organisation.
