Job description

The role:

Menzies is looking for an Events Officer to support the Communications and Marketing team, by assisting with the delivery of internal Menzies programs and external events to build the effectiveness, professional image, public profile and branding of the Menzies School of Health Research.

In particular, the Events Officer will be responsible for managing event logistics, collaborating with event contacts across business sectors, liaising with stakeholders, sourcing quotes, booking venues, producing marketing material, managing event registration, and completing all event documentation and reporting.

The external events may include, but are not limited to seminars, expos, workshops, award ceremonies, boardroom breakfasts, dinners or cocktails, remote site-visits, Menzies site-visits or facilities tours and other possible fundraising events. The part-time role will be responsible for planning and coordinating the 40-year anniversary celebrations in 2025.

Some of the key duties involve:-

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Menzies to identify, plan and assist with the delivery of events in a timely manner, and to understand and respond to their event needs.
  • Manage event communication, including write communications copy for invitations, confirmations and thank you letters, liaise with contractors to design all event communications to ensure timely design and delivery of event collateral (infographics, Menzies folder, prospects, etc), and in line with the Menzies branding.
  • Identify potential sponsorship or collaborative opportunities, community engagement opportunities, cross-organisational support and promotion.
  • Support in the delivery and management of Menzies events including seminars, expos, conference exhibitions, workshops and fundraising events.
  • Logistical coordination of events including seeking quotes, booking venues, organising catering, coordinating programs, producing marketing content, managing booking and registration where applicable and undertaking risk assessment activities.

About you:

As a motivated individual, you will come with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to a range of audiences including people from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.

You also have:

  • Completion of a relevant qualification (advanced diploma, diploma or certificate) and work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in event creation, execution and on-site management for small and medium events including community engagement, expos, exhibiting at conferences, workshops, launches, seminars, All Staff Updates, and visits to Menzies by outside groups.
  • Demonstrated experience of undertaking administration of event creation, for example, including seeking quotes, booking venues, organising catering, coordinating programs, producing marketing content and managing booking and registration where applicable.

The Benefits:

  • Attractive salary package $101,543 to $109,108 including super and salary packaging benefits (base salary $79,299 to $85,865)
  • 6 weeks annual leave, salary packaging benefits and other market leading conditions.
