Crowne Plaza Hobart is on the lookout for a talented Executive Chef who is equal parts leader, administrator, and culinary guru! Your experience and style mean you will have the capacity to flex seamlessly between large scale events to restaurant dining, room service and bespoke events, including off site catering.
As a member of the Hotel Executive Team, you will need to be guest focussed and a strategic, business savvy leader with the ability to fuel the team to prepare and present a quality food product that creates positive memories for clients and guests.
Accountability is second nature to you, and you know when to get in and work alongside the team as well as when to step out and work on the business. Your stakeholder management is professional and you have a knack for building relationships that support the Hotel’s positioning and brand.
Your day to day
- You will oversee all kitchen operations including stewards and stores, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations concerning health, safety, or other requirements.
- You will be accountable for the kitchen group’s financial performance, continuously driving both revenue and cost control improvements.
- Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members
- Ensure staff are trained on quality and service standards, and have the necessary tools, equipment, and autonomy to carry out duties.
- Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction
- Lead and manage ongoing compliance with the Food Safety Program & HACCAP.
- Ensure that all kitchen facilities are properly working and stocked according to anticipated business volume; notify engineering immediately of any maintenance and repair needs
- Bring your specialist knowledge to briefings, planning meetings and executive discussions to maximise success of the team and ultimately the business
What we need from you
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a leadership position within the kitchen
- The ability to inspire passion, enthusiasm and positivity in the team to drive an engaged, winning culture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with budgeting and rostering systems to monitor and analyse data
- Strong financial acumen and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage complex relationships and multiple stakeholders
- Food Safety Certification, as required by local law
- Culinary creativity with proven ability to pull off a vision
