Technology plays a strategic role within the Institutional Bank, developing, securing and running the technology stack on which our colleagues and clients rely on.

The Executive Engineering Manager, Institutional Lending is accountable for leading the Institutional Lending and Structured Asset Finance technology for IB&M. This role works with key product owners and stakeholders to determine strategy and oversees the delivery and day-to-day operations of associated technology.

This role includes a broad range of executive management responsibilities, including leading and inspiring engineering teams, driving quality outcomes from direct team and dependent teams within the organisation, solution design, workforce planning, financial management, managing technology suppliers, and maturing DevSecOps practices.

Role Responsibilities

The Executive Engineering Manager is core role as part of the Institutional Banking Technology Leadership Team.

This senior role is required to lead engineering teams located across Australia and India, including both internal talent and managing performance of key vendor relationships. The role is closely aligned with internal stakeholders, to ensure that client and commercial outcomes are met.

This role will be accountable for leading the execution of the technology strategy to support CBAs Institutional Lending long term objectives, building world class engineering capability and the development, security practices and running of associated technology.

Key outcomes include:

  • Meeting delivery of assigned key strategic initiatives whilst driving high quality engineering outcomes,
  • Ensuring operational stability,
  • Leading adoption of agile and DevSecOps practices,
  • Leverage CX and UX design practices to inform voice of customer and drive NPS,
  • Engaging with key stakeholders, and
  • Managing cost and risk.

We're interested in hearing from people who have

  • Relevant tertiary technology qualification and significant experience, prior banking experience,
  • Enjoy understanding product and underlying processes to deliver technology solutions, which make an impact in market.
  • Have led engineering teams of 20+
  • Ability to own and manage relationships with both peers and senior executives across business and technology, particularly product teams.
  • Confident in defining requirements, architecting, and designing software and code review practices.
  • Have demonstrable experience managing software delivery. You are willing to learn and jump into the deep end of technical problems.
  • Strong cost and risk discipline
  • Desirable
    • Prior experience in Institutional Banking or Business Banking
    • Working knowledge of Customer Experience (CX), and User Experience (UX) design methods to design and develop leading software for customers and customer facing colleagues
