Our client is currently seeking an experienced Government Executive Manager to join their team in Perth CBD.
This is a 6 month contract role, with possibility of extension, paying $82.10 per hour. We are looking for someone available to start immediately, working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.
Primary Objectives of the Role:
The Executive Manager is responsible for supporting the System Development Division. The position will be responsible for providing strategic, advisory and executive support to the Deputy Commissioner and the System Development Executive Management Team. This includes the coordination of ministerial liaison and high level executive support to the Executive Management Team in the System Development Division.

Requirements:
- Management experience within a government environment.
- Experience with HR processes, Finance processes and Ministerial Correspondence within a government environment.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong problem solving ability.
- Professional and approachable demeanour, with ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides a strategic advisory service to Deputy Deputy Commissioner System Development, 3x Directors, 8 Assistant Directors, and a team of approximately 50 FTE.
- Manages the executive support and business administration for System Development, including managing three executive support officers.
- Oversees the Ministerial and correspondence coordination, processes and procedures for System Development.
- Acts as chief of staff to System Development through being the first point of contact for recruitment, onboarding and performance management.
- Works with Finance to coordinate monthly forecast, budget build and resource allocation for System Development.
- Provides high level research, advice, executive support and assistance to the Deputy Commissioner, the System Development Executive Management Team and to other committees and working parties as required.
- Manages the collation of agenda documents and other items for executive, key management and strategic meetings.
- Arranges appropriate follow up action on outcomes of key meetings in discussion with the Senior Executive Group.
- Assists with the preparation of submissions.
- Oversees the preparation of responses to correspondence for senior staff.
- Provides timely high level advice on processes and procedures to senior officers across government and other stakeholders participating in activities relating to the agency's functions.
- Undertakes projects on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner and the System Development Executive Management Team as requested.
- Liaises with senior management and follows-up on issues on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner.
- Undertakes other duties as required.
Executive Support and Ministerial Liaison
- Manages and coordinates the activities and resources of the System Development Division.
- Develops and manages practices and procedures to ensure consistent, accurate and timely advice to Ministerial and Parliamentary enquiries.
- Provides timely and effective support to the Deputy Commissioner and other senior members of the System Development Division and Senior Executive Group, as necessary.
- Liaises with the Minister’s office and directs the preparation of ministerial responses, cabinet submissions and responses to parliamentary questions
- Prepares or coordinates the preparation of reports, speech notes and briefing papers on behalf of the Minister or Commissioner.
- Provides advice to senior managers and staff on protocols and procedures to facilitate the business of the System Development Division.
Communication and Liaison
- Ensures an effective interface between the Commission, the Minister’s Office and officers of the Executive Government.
- Represents the Deputy Commissioner at various meetings and forums as requested.
- Responsible for ensuring clear communication within and external to the team by establishing and maintaining communication strategies and systems.
- Builds appropriate interdepartmental relations with other organisations.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships with external parties (which includes the minister’s office, government and non-government agencies, carers, consumer groups and other stakeholders) and ensures appropriate liaison, consultation and negotiation occurs to meet the Commission’s objectives.
- Ensures the preparation of reports and correspondence as required by the Deputy Commissioner.
Selection Criteria:
- Considerable experience in the management and delivery of high level executive support services within a complex environment.
- Sound leadership and management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across portfolios.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills together with the ability to liaise and consult with a range of stakeholders in various contexts.
- Highly developed organisational and prioritising skills together with the capacity to utilise initiative in a demanding environment.
- High level research skills and abilities together with the ability to provide innovative solutions to complex problems and/or issues.
- Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary processes and procedures.

- Possession of, or progression towards a relevant tertiary qualification.
