The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) is a statutory authority established under the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia Act (2013) to foster and promote minerals research for the benefit of Western Australia.

We achieve impact through a range of activities including providing financial assistance for research projects, delivering an annual events program, awarding PhD scholarships and initiating research and education programs targeting strategic focus areas of high value to the State.

Our current focus areas are guided by the medium to long term challenges facing the State's minerals industry and include: net zero emission mining, green steel, exploration amplification, alternative use of tailings and waste, mineral carbonation and METS innovation.

The position

A new and exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated individual to join the MRIWA team and contribute to design and delivery of our research functions.

Reporting to the Director Research Strategy, the successful candidate will join a small, highly integrated team with a focus on developing and delivering research programs and initiatives across the organisation's focus areas, including managing a range of existing research projects delivered by external research partners and supporting cross-government initiatives.

With attention to detail and a strong focus on initiative and efficiency, the Principal Project Officer will work within the Research Team to develop programs and initiatives in line with the strategic direction and governance processes of the organisation. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking responsibility to prioritise their own workload and working flexibly across multiple focus areas, communicating and engaging with other business functions to deliver on organisational priorities.

This role will also be responsible for undertaking strategic research and analysis and engaging with stakeholders across MRIWA's networks to contribute to building MRIWA into a high-performance, innovative organisation.
