Job Description
Leverage your expertise to lead our dedicated team of Packaging Technologists in the newly created position of Executive Manager - National Sustainability (Packaging Design & Optimisation). This opportunity is pivotal in reinforcing ALDI's commitment to advancing sustainable packaging practices and contributing to a positive environmental impact on a national scale.
Be a driving force behind our sustainable packaging solutions, collaborating with stakeholders on a global level, and presenting on opportunities that contribute to achieving our sustainability roadmap goals.
You will be at the forefront of monitoring data and interpreting packaging developments to drive positive change across the business and ensure compliance with complex regulations. This is a full-time permanent opportunity, based in Minchinbury.
What does the role look like?
- Leverage past leadership experience to drive the successful implementation of sustainable packaging initiatives and design.
- Coach and develop a dedicated team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Prepare compelling business cases, translating strategy into actionable plans.
- Establish metrics to measure the success of sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with ALDI's goals.
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Stay informed about federal and state legislation related to products, plastics, and packaging and engage with stakeholders to influence positive change.
- Engage with International Sustainability teams and collaborate with ALDI countries worldwide to share insights, best practices, and collectively address plastic packaging challenges on a global scale.
What do we need from you?
- Demonstrate a robust track record in sustainable packaging strategy, design, and optimisation.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of relevant sustainability frameworks, standards, and regulations, including but not limited to APCO, CEFLEX, and state/federal legislation.
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing sustainability strategies with a keen commercial mindset.
- Communicate technical information clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills including ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders, including local and international project teams, and senior management.
- Ability to apply strong analytical skills to provide data-driven recommendations on sustainability initiatives.
- Exhibit a genuine passion for sustainability, inspiring the team and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
