About Kanmantoo Copper Mine
The Kanmantoo Copper Mine is one of Australia’s best kept mining secrets. Hidden amongst the quaint country towns of the vibrant Adelaide Hills yet is only a short 40-minute drive to Adelaide and a 20-minute drive to one of SA’s fastest growing areas, Mount Barker. Previously operating an open-cut mine, Hillgrove has established itself as valuable member of the community through award winning consultation, progressive site revegetation and providing opportunities for local employment. Hillgrove Resources have now embarked on an exciting new chapter – we’ve gone underground!
The Benefits
- One team, one goal! Know your workmates, don’t get lost in a sea of people.
- Your input is valued with no red tape and lengthily approval processes!
- Experience success, firsthand. Your efforts will have a material impact on individuals and company success.
The Role
Based on-site at Kanmantoo working a 8/6 back-to-back roster as a Mine Training and Safety Officer you will provide comprehensive Training and Safety support to our underground mining crews. Facilitating training at all levels, our teams are still relatively small yet filled with skilled and experienced operators who will continue be trained and assessed in new equipment and processes, plus retrained in areas where gaps are identified. As we continue to grow, we are now starting to welcome people from our local or near communities, who are less experienced in mining operations so will rely on the vast knowledge and expertise of an experienced trainer. We’ve recently changed this role to include a safety component, so will be all encompassing.
You will be working alongside a dedicated administrative team who will support your success through the rollout of a robust training strategy, the implementation of new software and the design/development of new training material – a creative team, who are dedicated and passionate about what they do - what more could you ask for!
The Fundamentals
Naturally, this role has a strong hands-on component by way of practical Training and assessments, therefore, extensive demonstrated experience in an underground mining environment is essential, along with a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (preferably updated to TAE40122) and valid Australian driver’s license. Preference will be given to applicants who have a heavy vehicle and explosives licenses. As an added bonus, you may have Shift Supervisor or Jumbo time under your belt but are ready for a change.
About you…
It's imperative you possess excellent communication, prioritisation and time management skills - let’s be honest, there’s a lot to achieve here in our still scaling-up business. As we move towards full implementation of a new system, plus have other mine specific software onsite, being adept at using a computer with the ability to learn new things quickly will serve you well.
There’s no doubt – this will be a fast-paced role, yet working with a dynamic team, in which you can immerse yourself and be part of an iconic Australian mining story. This will be a pivotal step in defining your career; are you ready to take on the challenge?
Please note: This is a residential role, based on-site at Kanmantoo, South Australia.
Please only apply if you are an EXPERIENCED underground professional.
