AddressBennett & Philp is a Brisbane Law firm with over 4 decades of experience with a strong Disputes & Litigation team who understand the real world. We offer practical legal solutions with the full range of business and personal legal services and as a result have grown a stellar client base. With over thirty fee earners across the firm and an established Litigation and Family Law team, we are looking for a Paralegal/Legal Secretary with demonstrated experience in Family Law to join the team. Ideally you will have experience as a Paralegal in Family Law or alternatively another area of litigation i.e. Commercial Litigation.
You will be working for a highly respected Family and Litigation Directors and Senior Lawyers in the areas of (but not limited to) family law and criminal law. Your workload will have a focus on these areas and your day will be varied an interesting. Experience as a Paralegal in Famil Law is not essential but will be highly regarded.
The Disputes and Litigation team comprises five Directors, two Special Counsels, two Senior Associates, a Lawyer, a Law Graduate and other support staff and paralegals. The firm has a focus on teamwork, and you will be required to assist other fee earners or teams during busy periods or while other support staff are on leave.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- assisting lawyers running of files
- preparing forms and documents from precedents
- compiling briefs (electronic and/or paper)
- liaising with clients and other parties
- file opening, closing files and archiving
- file management (electronic and a small number of physical files)
- diary management
- preparing monthly invoicing
The successful applicant will be confident, resilient, organised, and energetic and in addition, you will:
- Have the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with team members and clients
- High level of typing and documentation accuracy and quick typing speed
- Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Have strong time management and organisation skills
- Have interests in and pursue goals outside of work
