Job description
About the job
Our team at Spark is growing! We’re looking for our next experienced paediatric physiotherapist to join our team from May 2024.
About Us
Spark is co-owned by Amy and Shannon, two physios who had a passion for working with kids with disabilities and developmental delays and wanted to open a clinic that not only provided high quality intervention but also a workplace that truly supports their staff and creates an environment where we all push each other to get better at our craft. We've grown from 2 therapists to a team of 7 (5 physios and 2 admin staff) and we're looking for the next great addition to the team.
We do things differently at Spark. We’re a purpose-built paediatric-only physiotherapy clinic that specialises in delivering both intensive physiotherapy blocks and regular sessions to children with developmental delays and disabilities. The traditional intervention model works well for some children, but for our kids with complex delays or disabilities, intensive physiotherapy blocks generate far greater improvements and follow the latest evidence. As therapists, we love our intensive blocks as you get the time you need to deliver truly effective therapy and see huge changes in as little as three weeks.
Spark has been recognised as a paediatric centre of excellence by both Sunrise Medical and RDT and they have provided us with the unique opportunity to have therapy kits from Leckey and Dejay Medical in our clinic as well as ongoing support from these suppliers. These kits mean that we have several key early intervention assistive technology items permanently in our clinic which allows fast and effective early in-house AT trials and prescription for our clients.
Another point of difference at Spark is our shared care model. We use this model to achieve the best results for our kids! Working collaboratively gives our kids the best of all our collective experiences and expertise. Collaborating on a child’s treatment plan also allows the opportunity for our therapists to work together and challenge each other in order to provide the most specific and effective treatment. We have seen rapid progression in our therapist’s skills and treatment quality due to the use of our shared care model and the collaboration opportunities they receive at Spark.
We offer a wide range of ongoing professional development opportunities within our clinic as each therapist receives weekly one-on-one training with another member of our team to collaborate over specifics of their caseload plus we also have a monthly group training day dedicated to progressing our skills as a team. In addition to this in-house training, we also offer a professional development allowance for all staff to attend external courses to further expand their knowledge and keep current with the latest developments in our field.
We specialise in early intervention and have the opportunity to start working with children from infancy. We are privileged to work with children with complex disabilities including neurological disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy or acquired brain injuries), neuromuscular disorders (e.g., congenital myopathies), and genetic disorders (e.g. spinal muscular atrophy, Prader-Willi syndrome, or gene deletion syndromes).
