Our clients are a family-owned and operated mixed farming business with properties near Merriwa and Inverell; this role is based on the property situated 15 kilometres Northeast of Merriwa in the productive and picturesque Upper Hunter area of NSW. Covering some 3,900 hectares, they are currently carrying 2,500 dual purpose Merino ewes for wool and meat production and 600 Shorthorn breeding cows. There are also 250 hectares set up to produce dryland fodder crops, which are used to finish livestock. They pride themselves on being a progressive employer and offer a family-friendly, fun, professional and welcoming environment.
We are searching for an enthusiastic and energetic station hand to be involved in all day-to-day operations. The successful applicant will need prior knowledge of all facets of cattle and sheep production and competency in handling stock with horses in hilly terrain. Low-stress stock handling skills are a necessity, and working dogs are an advantage. Some fodder cropping/machinery operation experience is ideal to assist across the fodder cropping area.
The Offer
A very generous remuneration package will be negotiated depending on experience and will include a comfortable 3-bedroom family home, electricity allowance and station meat allowance. A vehicle for work purposes is also included.
Located 15 kilometres from the welcoming rural community of Merriwa and 50 kilometres from Scone, there is school bus access at the front gate, which services a range of schools.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes –
- Have some basic mechanical knowledge.
- Modern machinery operation experience for spraying, planting, and front-end loader operations is ideal.
- General farming practical skills (welding, fencing, mustering etc.)
- Willingness to work hard and complete tasks to a high standard.
- Driver’s License essential, HR truck license ideal.
- Chemical User certificate and experience with weed control.
- Own working sheep dogs essential.
