We are looking for an experienced Support worker/ EN for an Immediate start with a participant who has complex needs.
The Client is looking for experience staff, he is a young 22-year-old man who is severely impacted by severe spasticity resulting from his Cerebral palsy.
He is Nonverbal, although very intelligent and communicates using a My Tobbi eye gaze communication device and uses nonverbal eye gaze and cues.
He is 100% reliant on his staff to administer all feeds and medications via his peg.
Peg Feeding experience is important but can be taught as its client specific.
Manual handling and hoist experience is a must.
We are seeking highly experienced, very skilled Enrolled Nurse qualified or Cert III in individual support/disability.
Immediate start Applicants must have availabilities for dayshift training 7am to 3:30pm to start with then transition into the evening shifts which will be from 3:30pm to 8:30pm when competent to work independently.
We are looking for someone who can work independently and as part of a team.
Someone who wants long term work with potentially fulltime hours and able to do sleepover shifts.
*Training is through the buddy shift until staff and client are both comfortable with each other.
The Job description: Following Care Plans Medication administration, Showering, all personal cares including aid changes most importantly learning the clients’ nonverbal cues which is very important to build that trust and connection.
Staff must be prepared to get into a heated spa all year round as Client relies heavily on his Hydrotherapy to help relive his muscle pain.
Staff must be prepared to Implement exercise programs that have been prepared by the Allied health practitioner which are necessary to maintain range of motion and pain management for the client.
Social and Community participation, appointments & activities and assist with support towards independence.
Light housework, Light gardening, Personal admin Essential:
This is not entry level work.
- Must be physically fit.
- Able to uphold rules and expectations for the Participant in a consistent, firm, but calm and patient manner, and be good at redirecting,
- Comfortable and experienced with personal care,
- Be reliable, with great communication skills,
- Safety and Client focused,
- Current police check and NDIS worker screening check
- All applicable insurances required.
- Able to follow instructions and daily routines,
- Attention to detail and vigilant with safety,
- Be flexible in availabilities,
- Patient, calm, friendly and positive disposition.
The responsibility of being part of this Participant’s team means the following: • Create a warm but professional relationship with Client and his family and maintain strong boundaries.
See the importance to help facilitate the client to achieve his Goals.
One of the goals would be to create friendships with people in the community and become more independent.
- Advise of availabilities and update un-availabilities before the support sessions are scheduled.
- If a team member is unable to attend their support session it is expected that they contact the other support workers trained to work with the participant to try to swap or fill the support session.
- MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY.
Communicate well during team handover times and via the app.
- Liase with family members, group facilitators, therapists etc.
- Attend fortnightly team meetings • Complete significant incident reports, data collection, daily notes, medication records.
- Other admin duties as required.
- Order consumables and assist the client to fill his prescriptions from chemist.
• Hours available: ** 7am to 3:30pm Dayshift (able to fill in when existing staff take leave if required)
**3:30pm to 8:30pm Evening shift Fri, Sat and Sunday nights are on rotation so must be prepared to work these evenings.
Once fully competent and Client is comfortable, you will be allocated set shifts.
Ability to fill in for other staff members would be very desirable and an appreciated.
There will be opportunities where Client may need to go away for specialist appointments shift changes may be required.
