About the Roles
Aeon is seeking expressions of interest from East coast based (preference given to Queensland candidates) Exploration Geologists for a number of positions to support the upcoming field campaign and future exploration in the region.
Roles are available from enthusiastic newcomers through to experienced professionals, on a fixed term contract basis including:
- Project geologist
- Graduate geologist
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the Project / Graduate Geologist is responsible for performing geological and exploration services including drill rig supervision, geological logging and mapping.
This is a contract position with a 2/2 roster on offer, based at our Walford exploration camp.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Geological logging of drill chip and diamond core samples in an accurate manner, utilising the company’s logging and QA/QC procedures and structures.
- Supervision of the drilling contractor crew to ensure sample quality delivery in a safe and responsible manner.
- Assist with planning proposals for exploration programs, including drilling, geochemical and geophysical surveys.
- Undertake geological reconnaissance and mapping for mineral assessment of areas.
- Data compilation and validation to ensure the integrity of the geology database.
- Collating data for interpretation and reporting, this will also include developing maps, plans, sections. Report writing as required on a program or periodic basis.
ABOUT YOU:
- Absolute commitment to safety and respect in the workplace.
- BSc in geology.
- Experience on an exploration site is desirable but not essential.
- Enthusiasm for discovery.
- Willingness to help others with general site, camp or field duties when required, with a can-do attitude.
- Proficiency with geological software Micromine.
- C class with a preferred Manual Driver Licence.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen.
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
