About the Opportunity
- Temporary Secondment Opportunity till September 2024 - 70 hours per fortnight
- Hybrid arrangement with the opportunity for a 9-day fortnight pending operational requirements
- Salary from $78,788.61 - $91,288.49 plus 11% superannuation
- Lead projects that support a stronger, more connected and resilient Georges River community

- Be a key player in engaging and building relationships with the community stakeholders to deliver projects that build community capacity and raise awareness of Community Safety and Inclusion.
Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Promote a planned, coordinated approach to the development of sustainable community capacity building projects within Georges River local government area.
- Undertake project management work, including a proactive Community Safety education program.
- Initiate and coordinate new policies, programs and facilities in line with community needs, available resources and Council’s strategic planning objectives.
- Attend and facilitate Advisory Committee, Working Group meetings and other Council and community meetings as required.
- Monitor the impact of changes in relevant public policy for Council and the community and advise Council and the community appropriately. Develop and recommend appropriate strategies in response to these policy developments.
- Prepare high level correspondence, reports and presentations across a range of community capacity building topics.
- Prepare, monitor and review relevant budget items in relation to allocated responsibilities.
- Other duties as required by the Coordinator Community Capacity Building and or Manager Community and Early Learning Services.
Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Project Management or related disciplines, or relevant experience.
- Experience in project management, including ability to set priorities and sound organisational and time management skills.
- Understanding of issues relating to community capacity building.
- Experience in projects related to Community Safety and/or inclusion.
- Budget management experience.
- Ability to effectively plan, implement and evaluate community initiatives.
- Experience in community consultation and engagement.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and with other community organisations.
- Written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
