EOI Role Title: Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Portfolio Lead, PMO, Project Support Officer, Program Manager
Location of work: ACT, VIC, SA, NSW
Security clearance: Australian citizen with active NV1/ NV2 or above
Prior experience with the Federal/ AFP and Defence Industry is highly desirable
Key skills:
This role entails providing support and guidance on portfolio, program, and project management processes, procedures, tools, and techniques. This includes defining portfolios, programs, and projects; offering advice on developing, producing, and maintaining business cases; managing time, resources, costs, and exception plans; and utilizing related software tools.
Responsibilities also encompass tracking and reporting program/project progress and performance, as well as facilitating portfolio, program, and project meetings, workshops, and documentation.
# Define, document, and execute small projects or sub-projects (short term, with limited budget, low interdependency with other projects, and minimal strategic impact), independently or with a small team, actively participating in all phases.
# Identify, assess, and manage risks to project success.
# Apply and adapt suitable project management methods and tools, whether predictive (plan-driven) or adaptive (iterative/agile).
# Agree on the project approach with stakeholders, prepare realistic plans (including quality, risk, and communications plans), and track activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement appropriately.
# Monitor costs, timescales, and resource utilization, taking action when deviations from agreed tolerances occur.
# Ensure projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, reviewed, with lessons learned recorded.
# Take full responsibility for defining, approaching, facilitating, and satisfactorily completing medium-scale projects (typically with direct business impact and firm deadlines).
# Ensure quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure.
# Manage the change control procedure, ensuring project deliverables are completed within agreed costs, timescales, and resource budgets, and are signed off.
# Provide effective leadership to the project team, taking appropriate action when team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.
# Take full responsibility for defining, documenting, and completing complex projects (typically with significant business, political, or high-profile impact, and high-risk dependencies).
# Monitor and control resources, revenue, and capital costs against the project budget, and manage expectations of all project stakeholders.
