Gilead Sciences in Melbourne, Australia is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional capable of working effectively in a cross-functional team environment to be a Director in our growing Market Access team supporting our Oncology expansion.

This position plays a pivotal role by supporting payer value, pricing and Market Access activities in Oncology for Gilead products in Australia.  It is responsible for executing key projects for Market Access, including developing payer customer facing materials and core value dossiers. Additional projects include payer insight generation activities like payer research, advisory boards, and activities to inform Gilead’s future pricing strategy. This role reports to Snr Director Market Access, Gilead ANZ and is based in Melbourne, Australia.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of technically complex Pricing & Reimbursement (P&R) submissions which require extensive interaction with other functions for investigational and commercial products in the assigned therapeutic area in line with local requirement and company policies and procedures

  • Set milestones and ensure successful and timely delivery of key Market Access projects in the assigned therapeutic area, including:

    • Core value models / reimbursement dossiers

    • Payer insight generation activities like payer research and ad boards

    • Activities to inform Gilead’s future pricing strategy

  • Collaborate with Brand teams, Market Research, HEOR, Finance, Legal, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs and Public Affairs colleagues to deliver excellent Market Access deliverables

    • Collate local market data needs for Market Access submissions and deliverables, Health Economics modeling tool needs, publications, etc.

    • Create and continually update a plan detailing local market data need and the timing for key country milestones

    • Work with global/regional teams to develop robust internal pricing proposals / business cases and present them to the Pricing Committee

  • Ensure that the local Market Access activities comply with regulatory agencies, public policies / guidelines and with corporate policies and procedures

  • Maintain a current understanding of local payer needs and monitor the future competitive pricing landscape to proactively adapt company strategy to emerging trends in the reimbursement and drug pricing landscape

  • Regularly engage with local key stakeholders (Health authorities and payers), to establish a sustainable collaboration that would secure access to Gilead Oncology products

Knowledge & Skills

  • Understanding of the policy and reimbursement environment and existing barriers to oncology products adoption

  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to design new payment models and access strategies that address payer needs and overcome market barriers

  • 5+ years leading Market Access strategy and teams for Oncology products in Australia.

  • Strong track record in successfully leading and delivering core Market Access deliverables either within the pharmaceutical industry or within the consultancy sector

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 

  • Direct experience working with Health Authorities is required

Education & Experience

  • Typically requires a BA degree in Pharmacy or Life Sciences and minimum 10 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry

  • Degree in health economics is ideal

  • Experience leading a Australian Market Access team

  • Experience in New Zealand market a bonus

  • Hands-on experience with multiple successful oncology submissions is essential
