Facilities Operations Officer

Our client is seeking a full time Facilities Operations Officer to work in their Belmont facility.

• Supervise and review maintenance work on building assets to ensure organisational and contractual targets and standards are being achieved and take appropriate remedial action if required.
• Review and monitor programmed maintenance activities, to ensure that the day-to-day tasks are undertaken when programmed and to the standard required.
• Carry out minor maintenance duties in order to restore and maintain the standard for buildings and assets, as required.
• Carry out inspection of buildings whilst in attendance, to ensure no faults or maintenance matters are outstanding and report any issues to Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations.
• Carry out programmed maintenance activities, including incidental street sign and parking sign maintenance, as required.
• Organise quotations and arrange for sub-contractors to carry out specific maintenance work and arrange access to facilities as necessary.
• Assist the Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations in the monitoring and review of building maintenance contracts and programmes as required.
• Monitor compliance by contractors through regular inspections and audits to ensure Contract Guidelines and Specifications are being met and performance targets are being achieved, dealing with minor breaches, and referring major issues to the Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations.
• Procure materials to complete requested work and authorise payments of invoices as authorised under the ‘Authorised Requisition List’ and ensure budget expenditure is continually monitored and reviewed to achieve agreed targets.
• Complete regular and ad hoc records and statistics of work as required and undertake appropriate research and provide reports as required to the Coordinator Building & Facilities Operations on the Section’s activities.
• Receive public and general enquiries, complaints, and correspondence, taking appropriate action in line with established policies and practices and with the aim of maintaining a strong customer focussed service.
• Actively seek and report on methods of improving systems of work, policies, and practices, to ensure the continuous improvement of the Business Management System.

• Possession of an appropriate building qualification in Builder’s Registration, Building Supervision or Building Construction, or a recognised equivalent.
• Previous relevant experience within the building industry and in particular, building maintenance
• Previous exposure to project management within the building sector
• Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and autonomously, under minimal supervision.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the Work Health and Safety requirements, relevant for this position.
• Ability to acquire the appropriate legislative endorsements e.g. Construction Induction – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) in combination with a good understanding of the Work Occupational Health and Safety requirements relevant to this position
• Ability to utilise personal computer applications and in particular the Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e. Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Writer, Outlook).
• Possession of materials ordering experience.
• Previous exposure to budget preparation and management.
• Proven knowledge of applicable Acts and Regulations relevant to Buildings.
