About the role

Reporting to the GM - Export Operations, the Facility Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring activities are undertaken in a manner that is safe, risk assessed (where appropriate) and compliant with GFC’s policies, management systems and procedures. 


The Facility Operations Manager role is responsible for:

  • Ensuring food safety – and maintaining operational activity in compliance with key approvals (including DAFF Approved Arrangement and SQF) and critical control points.
  • Meeting/tracking safety, quality and productivity KPIs.
  • Supervision of, and assistance for, Production Controllers and all operational staff at the facility.
  • Staff planning, and coordination of on-boarding and training activities.
  • Execution of the daily Processing Plan (as developed/issued by the Operations Planning Managers).
  • Development of daily Production Area Plans (to deliver the Processing Plan).
  • Execution of the daily Product Movement Plan (as developed/issued by the Operations Planning Managers).
  • Day-to-day coordination of third-party service providers including ice supply, trucking and cold storage.
  • Stocktaking and ordering of site consumables.
  • Actioning unplanned maintenance with the Reliability & Maintenance Manager.
  • Responding to alarm call-outs – for example, faults with the facility holding freezers.

What we are looking for in candidates

As a 7-day operation, we are looking for someone that is flexible in their ability to work hours which may include day and weekend shift as well as occasional work on public holidays. 

In addition, to ensure success in this role, you will have familiarity with international food legislation, regulations and standards such as SQF, HACCP and GMP. You will be proficient in food equipment/process engineering

As a leader with experience managing a modern production environment with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience, you will come with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and have highly developed human resource management skills.
