Position Title:Factory Hand

Reports To: Leading Hand / Factory Supervisor
Position Summary: The Factory Hand will support the manufacturing operations by trimming pipes, operating tube-cutting machinery, and preparing components for welders. This role is crucial to maintaining efficient production lines, ensuring quality standards, and maximizing welders' productivity by providing properly trimmed and fitted components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipe Trimming and Component Preparation:
- Trim pipes and prepare components according to specifications and work orders.
- Operate tube-cutting machinery safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all components are properly trimmed and fit perfectly for welding.
- Material Handling:
- Transport raw materials, components, and finished products within the factory.
- Ensure materials are stored safely and organized effectively.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials and products.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect components and products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Report any issues or defects to the Leading Hand or Factory Supervisor immediately.
- Follow quality control procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Support for Welders:
- Prepare and provide components to welders to maximize their welding time.
- Ensure welders have all necessary materials and components readily available.
- Coordinate with welders to understand their needs and adjust preparations accordingly.
- Packaging and Shipping:
- Assist in packaging finished products, ensuring they are secure and ready for shipment.
- Label packages accurately and prepare them for delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of packaged and shipped products.
- Safety and Maintenance:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
- General Support:
- Provide general support to the factory team as needed.
- Assist in inventory management by keeping track of materials and reporting shortages.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly role is preferred.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and basic machinery, including tube-cutting machines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labour tasks.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with standard working hours; may require overtime during peak production periods.
- Work is primarily performed in a factory environment, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy objects as required.
