Who we are looking for

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking screening, risk assessment, intake, group work, Family Dispute Resolution, and case management with individuals who are separating or separated parents. Your primary focus will be to assist them in identifying issues and options and providing advice on parenting after separation. You will play an important role in helping families navigate the challenges of separation by promoting the best interests of children and fostering cooperative solutions.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Demonstrated knowledge of risk assessment and Family and Domestic Violence.
• Either current registration with the Attorney General’s Department [AGD] as an FDRP or relevant qualifications which would enable the candidate to register as an FDRP with the AGD.

It would be a bonus if you have:

• A Bachelor’s degree (AQF level 7) in Social Sciences or Law.
• Demonstrated experience in working with complex clients.
• Demonstrated experience in Family Dispute Resolution.
• National accreditation under the Mediation Standards.

What you will be doing

• Conduct individual and child-focused risk assessments.
• Develop case plans and deliver various direct client interventions, including information provision, casework, Family Dispute Resolution, and referrals.
• Undertake thorough risk assessments using approved tools and respond to identified risks strategically.
• Deliver tailored information sessions and workshops relevant to parents.
• Deliver individually tailored, child-focused, flexible, and responsive Family Dispute Resolution.
• Utilize various Dispute Resolution/mediation models to intervene in high-conflict family situations.
• Proactively engage with the community, gather feedback, and participate in recruitment activities.
• Maintain accurate case records and data collection in client information systems.
• Collaborate with colleagues to establish effective referrals, improve case strategies, and participate in learning and supervision.
• Contribute to plans, reports, and evaluations to ensure an efficient and accountable service.
• Demonstrate accountability through regular participation in supervision.
• Participate effectively in project development and implementation.
