Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual that has a strong passion about making a difference within the community. The Family Safety and Wellbeing Officer will be supporting those affected by domestic and family abuse, as well as supporting those who perpetrate violence and abuse to change their behaviour. The successful candidate will be joining a supportive team of innovative, passionate professionals who strongly believe in the work that they do.

What can you expect to be doing?

  • Provide support to those affected by family violence, including children through activities such as counselling, education, information and/or referral.
  • Provide therapeutic counselling and support for individuals who perpetrate domestic violence and abuse to assist them in understanding and changing their behaviour.
  • Develop and facilitate appropriate group programs to victims of domestic violence and abuse
  • Support the ongoing delivery and development of healthy relationship education groups for school-age children.

What do you need to bring?

  • Prior experience working within the community providing 1:1 counselling as well as group educational sessions, preferably with domestic violence victims and perpetrators.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, promote, deliver and evaluate a wide range of family and relationship activities.
  • Proven ability to work in a culturally humble and competent manner.
  • Ability to be flexible with hours/ days of work, this role will require working in the afternoon once a week. (12:00pm – 20:00pm, preferred day Thursday).
