We are currently seeking a Farm Manager to assist with the day-to-day management of our macadamia and avocado orchards.
Reporting to the CEO this position will suit a self-motivated individual looking to become part of an organisation that exists for the good of the community. On Peirson Farms, we grow produce with purpose and all the profits generated from our farming operations are invested back into the community through our counselling services and youth programs.
Your main responsibility will be to coordinate and manage all activities on the farm ensuring compliance, efficient resource management and responsible stewardship on the farm.
Responsibilities- Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and supervise all farm activities; including planting, harvesting, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and equipment maintenance.
- Monitor weather conditions, market trends, and technological advancements to adapt farming strategies accordingly.
- Implement and maintain efficient farming practices to maximize crop yields and optimise resource utilisation.
- Liaise with packhouses and other processing facilities to ensure the harvest and distribution of fruit occurs in a timely and efficient manner.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate farm staff, ensuring that they adhere to safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and quality standards.
- Ensure all staff receive proper inductions in accordance with regulatory requirements and have sufficient knowledge to comply with all workplace health and safety requirements.
- Foster a positive work environment conducive to teamwork, communication, and professional development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees to enhance productivity and job satisfaction.
- Contribute to the formulation of the farm budget by providing insights on operational requirements and strategic plans
- Monitor expenditure and implement corrective actions to achieve cost-efficiency and profitability targets.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth, diversification, and value-added products to enhance farm profitability.
- In consultation with the agronomist - monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and implement appropriate control measures to minimise crop losses and ensure product quality.
- Ensure that agronomist recommendations are implemented across both farms.
- In consultation with the agronomist, implement effective pruning programs on both farms to ensure excellent tree health.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, environmental regulations, and food safety standards.
- Implement sustainable farming practices to minimise environmental impact, conserve natural resources, and promote biodiversity.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to crop production, livestock inventory, financial transactions, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare reports on farm operations, productivity, and performance indicators to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Submit monthly reports to the Board.
- Clearly communicate operational needs to staff, the CEO, the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders.
- Actively engage with community organisations visiting the farm.
- Willing to mentor and train young people on the farm.
- Create opportunities for community engagement and development of youth engagement programs in consultation with Peirson Services staff.

- Current tractor operating and spraying experience
- Forklift license or willingness to obtain
- Chemical certificate or willingness to obtain
- Experience in adhering to Freshcare requirements – training will be provided
- Ability to complete physically demanding tasks
- First Aid and CPR training
- Current driver licence
- Current Blue Card (working with Children) or willing to obtain
