You will need to be able to demonstrate you can design for a diverse range of customers and really understand who they are and what they want – or maybe you already do - great ! Experience and Requirements:
- Start time TBC - 15th June preferred. This is a maternity leave position that is becoming available and could result in a permanent position depending on your skillset and ability.
- Design background – degree or qualification in design or production.
- Minimum 2+years’ experience in a Fashion design role and can work at a quick to steady pace accurately .
- A long-term goal of a sea change, to work and live in the beautiful wine region of Western Australia.
- Offer strong creative design suggestions in line with the design brief.
- Assist in deigning beautiful commercial ranges- follow trend reports/ colours and create pieces in line with the brand.
- Strong technical knowledge of specification requirements, grading and fabric types.
- Monitor the performance of previous season styles, focus should be on recreating best sellers’ for the next season to achieve a similar or better result.
- Attention to detail and accuracy is key, combined with a love of perfecting design and fit.
- Create designs that appeal to our demographic of 25+. Relaxed, classic styles that suit a range of silhouettes.
- Excellent time management, planning and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines when required.
- Strong computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Work constructively and efficiently with four team members where the workload is shared and divided in line with strengths. A junior designer assistant, the design coordinator, the creative director and our sourcing and inspection assistant in China.
- Work with and maintain great relationships with our offshore makers.
- Well-presented, loves teamwork and works well autonomously.
- Ability to prioritise workload, plan correctly and assume responsibility for the design area.
- Clear and effective written and verbal skills.
- Demonstrate problem solving skills when it comes to fitting garments and production issues.
- Inspire, guide and support others – really enjoy being part of a team and embrace and drive the brand on a design level.
- Thoughtful. friendly and the ability to go above and beyond.
- References must be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the seasonal range plan, design and construction of a new season range every 6 months
Approximately 80 pieces per season – Humidity
30 pieces per season – Titchie
- Manage/ organize design room and collections with co-creative director and design coordinator/manager.
- Submit design stories for new collections in specific fabrications and trims
- Create, update and finalize technical spec packs – prototype, sampling, and final production.
- Maintain systems, spreadsheets and procedures for all sampling and production.
- Email offshore makers regarding all things design.
- Organize and approve lab dips/ final production bulk fabric and trims.
- Source new fabrics/ trims for development (we have makers, an assistant in China who will source and the creative director travels twice a year to source).
- Offers constructive corrections in the prep of fitting samples. Notes should be taken and fitting/trim intricacies carefully checked.
- Participate in fittings and updating tech packs.
- Photoshoot and catalogue prep/layout.
- Assist marketing with garment specific website measurements or customer inquires in regard to fitting.
- Travel to local and international photoshoot locations – prep items for shoot and dress models.
- Book sample shipments with couriers - DHL / FED EX and make sure charges are acceptable.
- Ensure the office is always clean and presentable.
