Job description
Our client is an industry leading agribusiness with sophisticated meat processing operations located in Greenswamp, QLD. They are currently looking to fill 30 Feedlot General Hand positions, starting on or around the 31st May 2024.
You are required to work in the feedlot environment. Not afraid of getting your hands dirty, you will be comfortable working with live and deceased animals. You will be a team member who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting and long days on your feet.
This role is paying $22.95/hour under Pastoral Award – FLH level 1, is an ongoing position with full- time hours. You will be offered a minimum of 38 hours of work per week, with 1-4 years of work and potential to upskill.
You will be responsible for all aspects of Feedlot work, including:
• Daily inspection, pre-start checks and refueling of trucks and machinery.
• Cleaning of feedlot pens and transport of manure to designated areas.
• General machinery operation within the feedlot and farm General transport of material as required.
• Cleaning equipment and machinery.
• Handling livestock in yards, pens and paddocks.
• Loading and unloading cattle to/from trucks.
• Inducting cattle.
• Cleaning water troughs.
• Assisting with maintenance and repairs to the Feedlot Generally i.e. fencing, cleaning vehicles & sheds.
• Utilise low stress livestock handling methods.
• Assist with autopsy of livestock.
• Using computers for record keeping practices particularly for compliance with the NLIS scheme and inducting and treating cattle.
• Daily inspection and cleaning of feed bunks. Cleaning equipment and machinery.
• Preparation and delivery of cattle ration to feedlot and paddock feed bunks.
• Record keeping for daily/manually feeding, using computers and other methods. Checking calibration of feed truck and batch box scales.
• Adoption and conformance with quality assurance practices, policies and procedures.
• Compliance with Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Any other duties as reasonably requested.
