A recent example is the IMDEX BLASTDOG™ for geophysical and drill & blast applications. BLASTDOG™is a semi-autonomous system that logs material characteristics of blast holes, which then allows automated spatial domaining of geophysical and physical properties and fracturing based on high-resolution 3D material models and material tracking in the pit.
The opportunity
IMDEX Mining Technology (IMT) is looking for Field Operators to represent IMDEX, operate safely and effectively, maintain, troubleshoot & repair on site the semi-autonomous fleet of geophysical logging robots (IMDEX BLASTDOG™) to support new customer contracts. The positions report to the IMT Operations Superintendent WA.
The Field Operator roles are available for candidates who are safety focused, demonstrate behaviours within the IMDEX guiding principles, are looking for a career change to be at the forefront of market leading Mining Technology. The role is hands on and will be in a dynamic operating environment in the field, the position is customer facing and you will be representing the IMDEX brand at site.
The roles are offered on Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) basis from Perth to various project sites in Western Australia on even time rosters (likely 7/7 or 8/6). Accommodation, food and flights are included. Potential for future Australia wide and international travel and work assignments.
To be successful
To be considered for this career defining opportunity, you will have strong communication skills, be computer literate, mechanically and mathematically apt with a can-do attitude. Your experience working on mine sites in the field in open cut or underground production environments is essential. In date, unrestricted manual driving license and ability to obtain an MR or HR license. A strong safety focus and training in Mining or Drill & Blast (shotfirer) and or Downhole wireline logging will ensure your success.
Additional requirements include:
- Experience of field work with technical equipment (e.g. wireline logging, downhole survey, surveying, shotfiring, drill and blasting etc.).
- Previous FIFO experience.
- Experience in or association with drill and blast practices.
- Experience with electronic tools such as marine GPS, drones, gaming systems and/or robotic control systems.
- Ability to present and explain technical information simply.
- Experience with flexible work hours and ability to travel to site in Australia or overseas as required.
- Preventative and breakdown maintenance experience and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent physical fitness.
- Strong professional communication style - client facing.
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical (including DAS) and police clearances.
