The Field Plant Mechanic is responsible for carrying out service and repair on site. The role is expected to consume 2 days per week with scope for growth. Successful contractor must be able to supply a service vehicle and tools and will be eligible to charge a call out fee for 1 hour's labor for each job. Makinex will provide training and support in Cormidi mini dumper servicing and repair.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing periodical and preventative maintenance, carrying out repairs of earthmoving equipment with small engines
- Diagnosing, repairing and servicing skid steer loaders, mixing station motors, other equipment fitted with small engines
- Perform repairs on various engines, including engine components, electrical systems, carburettors and fuel systems.
- Dismantling, repairing and reassembling small engines
- Diagnosing and removing hydraulic pumps and hoses
- Driving your own service vehicle to attend breakdowns and onsite work
- Professional interactions with customers, internal departments, and work colleagues
- Being self-organised and on top of time-management
- Carry out all work in-line with WH&S and company procedures
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- experience required working on small engine construction equipment with mini dumper experience desired
- a strong mechanical & technical aptitude
- proficient in diagnosing and repairing various types of small engines
- familiarity with small engine tools and diagnostic equipment
- strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- effective communication with both customers and other team members
- physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment when necessary
- basic understanding of product application
- good time management
- self-motivated with the ability to act and operate independently
