WPS’ concepts focus on improving load containment, improving throughput, improving labour efficiencies, reducing environmental impact, and reducing consumable usage for all packaging machinery ranging from semi-automatic to fully automatic systems.
+ About the position
The Service Technician role is responsible for troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and breakdown repairs to packaging machinery such as pallet wrapping machines, strapping machines, strapping tools, carton sealing machines and carton erectors.
The Service Technician reports directly to the owner.
+ Functions of the role
The responsibilities of the Service Technician include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoot equipment in the field.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance and scheduled services as required.
- Installation of new equipment and customer training.
- Assist sales team with machinery demonstrations.
- Some short term working away from home may be required (typically overnight to 1 week planned well in advance).
- The role is predominantly mechanical work with some basic electrical

- Competency in troubleshooting and repairing electromechanical machinery.
- A working knowledge of PLC and PCB controlled equipment.
- An affinity with and understanding of the mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical aspects of packaging machines.
- Strong analytical, organisation and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- An ability to work under pressure and display excellent customer service.
- Attention to detail and ability to think outside the box.
- A determination to do the task right the first time, every time.
- Proactive worker who builds strong client relationships and has a strong empathy with their needs.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be open to local and some intrastate travel.
- Forklift license regarded but not critical.
- Willingness to undertake training as required.
- Full or restricted electrical license is highly desirable, or the ability to acquire one – we can assist with this process
+ Education and Experience
Ideally the successful applicant will be experienced in a comparable role or has worked with electromechanical equipment as a fitter/technician/electrician.
