An opportunity to join the team in Mount Isa is available for a number of experienced fly in fly out (FIFO) Field Service Technicians (Diesel Mechanic / Fitter). FIFO can be from Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns to Mt Isa.
With one of these FIFO Field Service Technician positions, the opportunity to do FIFO project work in Papua New Guinea (PNG) will also be available, this will be on a 2:2 roster working 12 hours days.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing modifications and or mechanical repairs on Normet and client underground machines.

- $85 - $90 per hour + super for FIFO project work in PNG

What you will need to succeed
- Certificate III Diesel Mechanic / Fitter or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years industry experience
- Experience in modification and repairs of heavy mobile equipment
- Strong mechanical knowledge and experience with a high level of problem solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read CAD engineer drawings, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics.
- Previous underground experience is highly desirable
- Ability to provide high level technical advice to clients in onsite as necessary
- Drivers license is essential along with full working rights in Australia.
The successful candidate must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a National Police Clearance before commencement.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting on-site commissioning, servicing and repairs of Normets and clients underground machines:
- Modification and/or repair of vehicle systems including: chassis’, drivelines, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrics
- Manufacturing and fitting of electrical and mechanical components
- Testing and adjusting of all mechanical hydraulics, circuits and pneumatic components
- Fault finding, repairing, replacing, and providing technical advice
- Inspection, analysis and recording critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking mechanical refurbishment work
- All work to be performed safely and at a level of quality acceptable to both Normet and customer expectation.
