DEM Fire & Essential Services Group (DEM) has been established for 45 years and is a privately owned fire and essential services provider located in Seven Hills.
DEM requires an experienced accounts person who displays initiative, courage, passion and enjoys collaborating, to be part of our dynamic team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the accounts and business administration functions and will report directly to the managing director. They will be a solution maker capable of developing, implementing & running sound systems & procedures that ensure the continuing success of our growing company. They will be able to provide concise reports on financial matters and recommend actions to the management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the accounts team
- Manage accounts receivable and payable functions
- Manage payroll and payroll related HR functions
- Manage debt collection
- Manage month end close period including P&L reporting
- Balance sheet general ledger reconciliations, journal entries and key month end accounting activities
- Maintain compliant accurate account records and liaise with company tax accountant
- Ensure all statutory payments are made on time
- Manage business administrative functions including Insurances, motor vehicles, phones
- Collaborate with the operational departments of the business
- Budget and forecast activities
- Research and document accounting and HR matters
- Manage the risk and opportunities presented within the Balance Sheet
Suitable applicants should have
- An accounting degree or relevant tertiary qualification
- Prior experience in managing financial accounts
- Advanced MYOB skills
- High attention to detail
- Experience in leading, engaging and developing teams
- Strong business and financial acumen, with proven ability to think creatively
- Ability to engage collaboratively with all stakeholders, influence key decision makers and champion best in practice
- Provide past employer references which indicate that the applicant had excellent organisational skills and excellent communication skills in that role
- Prior experience in the fire services industry or a similar service industry would be an advantage but is not essential.
