Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel to, from and through Brisbane in the future. It will be a catalyst for 10 years of wider rail transformation across the whole of South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class ‘ETCS' signalling system.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work on one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects and to be a part of something that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

About the Role

The Finance Business Partner works closely with assigned project work streams within the CRR Program Delivery business unit to support to provide key management accounting support by providing expert financial and cost management advice, budgeting and forecasting analysis. Deliverables will include targeted management reporting, variance analysis, and financial commentary.

The role leads proactive cost control measures and identifies risk and opportunities for the program to ensure adequate utilisation of state funding and that business and financial objectives are met. This is a hands-on role that proactively builds long term strategic working relationships with stakeholders across the business, identifying opportunities and leading change in financial management.

Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, this opportunity is offered as a contract until December 2025 with possible extensions. You will be working from our conveniently located corporate office in Brisbane CBD which boasts first class facilities with the flexibility for hybrid work.

Key Responsibilities:
Preparation, reporting and analysis of monthly reporting data, cost planning, forecasts and budgets.
Facilitate Monthly Business Review (MBR) with the Head of the relevant Business Area as required.
Preparation and coordination of the quarterly review reports, quarterly forecast and annual budget.
Preparation and continuous maintenance of financial models that informs the forecast and budget process.
Support project level variation processes including variations to major works contracts, consultant support packages and internal Cost Breakdown Structure.
Support the development of finance and cost management systems and processes, to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
Collaboratively support the Program Controls Office - Change and Risk Management processes as they pertain to updating cost plans and financial reporting of Contingency and Retained Risk (Project Risk).
Supporting and endorsing Briefing Notes for approvals to support new or modified budget requests.
Undertake various duties regarding financial delegations, compliance matters and general finance activities.
Assist the Financial Accounting team in the preparation of financial statements and whole of government reporting as required.

About You:
Proven skills and experience in undertaking management accounting activities in a fast-paced environment, preferably with capital project experience.
Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills with proven capability in building and maintaining financial models.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with and influence key stakeholders to continually improve financial outcomes.
Be self-driven and take the initiative to ensure best for project outcomes.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar and study or completed CA/CPA qualifications.
