Our client is seeking to engage a Finance Director.
Contract Length: Start – ASAP, End – 06/09/2024, with option to extend up to 12 months
Security/Eligibility: Ability to obtain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance
The opportunity:
Work at the Agency is fast-paced and presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate, design and deliver whole-of-government outcomes. The role provides the opportunity to work across government bringing together a broad suite of skills, including strategic policy, regulatory reform, data and digital strategy, human-centred design, business engagement, program management, and corporate support.
The Agency has a vacancy for a high performing EL2 Director. Reporting to the CFO, the Director will lead the Financial Reporting and Treasury sections.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrate experience with accounting systems similar to SAP, TM1, P2P, TRIM, or the ability to quickly acquire the skills to successfully navigate and use the systems.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor people in a dynamic environment.
- Proven financial and business acumen, including as it relates to developing strategic and operational plans, managing risk, and driving business efficiency and improvement.
- Exceptional communication including the ability to influence and manage relationships with senior executives and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of delivering outcomes and initiatives, and the ability to manage competing demands particularly in the areas for which the position is responsible.
The EL2 Finance Director role will:
- Manage the financial statement process.
- Drive the development/review of Agency’s financial policies and procedures, ensuring alignment to business needs and broader strategic objectives, finance initiatives and frameworks.
- Lead the management of the month-end financial processes.
- Provide expert financial advice and input to business decisions and projects e.g. CAPEX/OPEX classifications.
- Management of the ANAO external audit process.
- Oversee the Tax and Treasury functions – ensure tax obligations are met (i.e.: BAS/FBT). Note FBT supported by an external provider.
- Lead and provide input into divisional and corporate projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Agency operations including offshore.
- Drive ongoing improvement in business practices in financial policies, procedures and practices.
- Contribute to a highly skilled and qualified finance network and delivering independent, trusted advice to key stakeholders.
- Understand Agency’s business requirements and strategic objectives and managing the delivery of resource management and reporting functions, including being involved in and contributing towards the business planning processes.
- Oversee compliance with accounting standards.
- Working arrangements – 4/5 days per week
- Leading a team of 6-8 staff (2 direct reports)
