Finance Manager
Full-Time, Maximum Term Parental Leave Cover (through to end of July 2025)
$166,833.68 per annum inclusive of the superannuation guarantee
Are you a motivated finance professional with great systems and process experience who enjoys change?
WALGA has a great opportunity for an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team on a parental leave cover contract. The Finance Manager will oversee all financial aspects of our organisation and ensure its financial health and compliance with regulations. You will manage a team of three knowledgeable, dedicated staff.
We are seeking someone who adds value to the organisation using initiative and customer awareness. You will also possess sound technical knowledge and judgement.
This is a great opportunity to make a difference, utilising your systems knowledge to continue the development of our recently implemented Business Central Wiise financial platform and related processes. The ideal candidate will also enjoy engaging with and supporting internal stakeholders with their transactional needs.
The role is responsible for:
• Year-end reporting in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
• Coordination of external audits.
• Month-end reporting for WALGA and related entities and committees.
• Owning and developing the Finance system, applications and related processes.
• Leading a small team providing transactional activities, including receivables, payables, treasury, corporate cards, and fixed asset register.
• Compliance with external lodgement requirements, including business activity statements, fringe benefits tax returns and remittances.
• Building strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their transactional needs and provide process solutions.
• Assisting with budgets as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Tertiary qualifications in accounting or similar.
• CPA/ CA qualified or with significant progress towards completion.
• Technically strong with sound working knowledge of accounting standards, GST and employer taxation, including Fringe Benefits Tax.
• Proven experience using and developing mid-tier ERP finance systems and processes, including automation of processes – Business Central Wiise would be well regarded
• Proven experience in month-end processes and reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
• Some experience with leading small teams.
• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with senior leaders, managers and staff to provide support and implement organisational improvements.
• High degree of organisation, time management and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple issues.
• Ability to plan for and meet reporting deadlines.
• Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills with Advanced Excel and some Power BI
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
• High degree of judgement and reasoning.
