We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced team member to join Council's Finance Team in managing the Finance operation within Council and coordinating the activities of the Finance Team.
The position is responsible for managing the financial planning and budgeting requirements for Council and ensuring that statutory financial reporting requirements are met.

What you will do:
- Ensure systems and controls are in place to maintain the integrity of the general ledger and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures and relevant statutory requirements.
- Effective long term financial planning
- Budget preparation integrated with corporate planning so that organisational objectives can be achieved
- Budget monitoring and reporting of Council’s income and expenditure against budget
- Statutory financial reporting requirements
- Financial reporting on outcomes and achievements, related back to financial targets and organisational objectives
- Oversee and coordinate the Finance Team
- Provide a high level of customer service and advice to Corporate Services clients
What you will need:
- Possession or near completion of a degree with an Accounting/Business major
- Current Class C Driver Licence
- Criminal History Check
- Cost & financial accounting experience at middle management
- Ability to analyse and interpret financial information, determine trends and effectively manage Council’s resources
- Technical knowledge of and ability to apply applicable legislation and standards
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills
- Organisational and time management skills to achieve specific and set objectives within required timeframes.
- A positive attitude towards ongoing improvement
