About the role
As the Senior Finance Officer within the Major Projects unit, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of high-risk and/or high-value capital works projects on behalf of the Queensland Government. Reporting to the Business Manager (Finance), you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining financial governance frameworks, management systems, and reporting functions to ensure the operational sustainability of the business unit and support project management.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Utilise enterprise accounting systems and MS Excel to streamline data collection and integration, ensuring data reliability and integrity.
- Support budgetary and financial management activities to manage the capital works program and operational responsibilities.
- Develop effective work procedures associated with financial management processes.
- Contribute to business system development, improvement, and documentation.
- Maintain and review system processes to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and audit quality outcomes.
- Foster positive working relationships and partnerships with team members and stakeholders.
- Provide advice, guidance, and training to ensure adherence to policies, standards, and established systems.
- Assist in managing the integrity of financial accounting records, data, and systems, ensuring compliance with standards and legislative requirements.
- Other accountabilities within the team as reasonably directed.
About You
To thrive in this role, you need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business, or related fields preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting.
- Advanced Excel competency and technical documentation writing skills.
- Must have Australian full working rights.
- Be able to pass and hold national police check.
