Finance Officer (Internal Accountant)

Jet Couriers is a Dandenong South based transport company with operations in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Finance Office (Internal Accountant) to complement our existing finance team on a full-time basis with an immediate start.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will work alongside our full-time Payroll/Payables and Receivables team providing end-to-end accounting functions and reporting for all Jet Group entities, including USA and New Zealand. 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Month end responsibilities including GL journals and Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Bank reconciliations
• Preparation of monthly management accounts
• Ensuring all monthly/quarterly statutory reporting compliances are met BAS, IAS, STP including USA & NZ requirements
• Preparation of accounts for year end and liaising with external accountants
• Assisting and development of AR (incl. credit management) and AP
• Annual workers compensation declarations
• Providing support regarding insurance, internal controls and company administration
• Manage motor vehicle fleet including registrations, expenses and insurance claims
• ASIC updates
• Liaising with operations teams to assist with financial and reporting matters
• Strong system proficiency and the ability to assess current features, recommend and develop innovative and commercially relevant solutions
• General office duties as required

Key Skills:

• Relevant Tertiary qualification supported by a minimum of 3 years practical experience.
• Solid understanding of computerised accounting, payables and payroll systems with QuickBooks and MYOB AccountRight knowledge preferred but not essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications with a strong focus on Excel.
• Ability to cope and understand working with three separate financial years.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Impeccable time management and ability to manage varied and conflicting demands to agreed standards and timeliness including the ability to cope with regular interruption to your daily workflow.
• An understanding of the transport industry will be highly regarded but not essential
• Ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision and guidance as well as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
