We at Chandler Macleod are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer who will work cross-departmentally with the Accounting/Finance, HR and Operations departments and ensure that all staff receive on-time weekly remuneration and have a full and thorough understanding of their salaries and entitlements.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the CFO with accounts preparation, report preparation, and reconciliation, including reconciling reports to third-party records such as bank statements.
- Ensure efficient and timely processing of payroll transactions, including collecting, calculating, and entering data to update payroll information.
- Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages, and report on payroll liabilities.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies with staff and maintain payroll operations by adhering to company and legislative policies and procedures.
- Develop ad hoc financial and operational reports as required by Senior Departmental Managers.
- Verify timekeeping records, consult employees about discrepancies, and update employee tax status and banking records as needed.
- Record employee complaints and concerns about payroll services and communicate issues to the HR Manager.
- Maintain compliant policies and procedures for processing payroll requirements.
- Provide cross-departmental support and assist with administrative duties as needed.
- Backup duties include maintaining financial records, filing, processing payments, data entry, and livestock processing data entry.
- School leaver’s certificate required (Accounting or similar qualification preferred)
- Minimum three years payroll department experience
- Dealt with complex EBAs and/or Awards.
- Familiarity with payroll software (MYOB, Micro Pay, Mitrefinch/Time Management System)
- Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
