Our client is seeking to engage APS6 Finance Officers.

Contract Length: 12 months with option to extend up to 12 months

Eligibility/Security Requirement: A minimum of Baseline security clearance is required

Statement of work

The VET Information Branch (VIB) is seeking 2 x APS 6 Finance Officers to fill vacancies within the VDS Procurement and Finance team. The VET Information Branch (VIB) oversees the VET Data Streamlining (VDS) program including implementing the new National VET Data System and managing governance, policy and legislation around the VDS Program and the VET Unique Student Identifier.

The Branch caries out rigorous stakeholder engagement and program management, working closely with NCVER, VET regulators and State and Territory training authorities to develop and seek arrangement to the new VET information standard and IT infrastructure. VIB also manages legislative and policy changes to support enhanced data collection and the VET Unique Student Identifier (USI) policy. 

About VDS Procurement and Finance Team

We are seeking two (2) APS 6 Finance Officers to join the team., You will provide operational support and advice in relation to complex finances, including strategic planning of the branch finances and associated program/ project funding.

These contractors will apply accounting skills, detailed analytics and strategic initiative in their work to support the Assistant Director, Director, and Senior Executive to effectively manage, sustain and forecast the Branch’s financial profile.

Key responsibilities of these roles will include:

  • Providing financial reporting, support and advice to the Assistant Director and Director, including preparing finance dashboards and reports for executives.
  • Responding to a range of internal reporting requests (e.g. budget and annual reporting updates, forecasting of branch budgets, monthly accruals, monthly reporting)
  • Managing the collection of information to monitor program budget, forecasts, and expenses, including updating and maintaining the program finance model.
  • Liaising with the group’s finance business partners to maintain internal controls and meet financial reporting requirements.
  • Monitoring and processing accruals and vendor invoices
  • Improving financial processes and systems to ensure they are efficient, effective, and fit for purpose.

We are seeking contractors with the following skills and capability:

  • Experience in government accounting or finance area and a working knowledge of the Commonwealth Financial Framework
  • Qualifications in finance or accounting and experience in finance modelling are desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business areas and individuals at all levels including executives.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to formulate advice and provide input to complex issues.
  • Previous experience with SAP/HUB and TM1 or similar reporting tools highly regarded.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines to achieve results and deliver high quality outcomes.
