ABOUT THE BRANCH
Chief Financial Officer Branch contributes towards the outcomes of the Department by providing reliable and timely financial information that supports decision making and seeks to drive improved organisational performance. Key products and services of Financial Accounting and Reporting Team include monthly financial reporting, Annual Financial statements, General ledger management, Accounting policy, Payroll accounting, Asset accounting and Taxation (Goods and Services Tax and Fringe Benefit Tax).
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITIES
Payroll Accountant
The Accounting and Reporting Team offers a challenging position within the payroll and tax section in a diverse and dynamic work environment. We are looking for enthusiastic and adaptable accounting officer who is interested in meaningful work who has an understanding the accounting of the payroll function that contributes to our business goals with a strong work ethic.
Who can apply:

- Be an Australian citizen at the time of application
- Has relevant work experience in a small Finance team
- Currently hold or will be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance at Baseline level
- Be willing to undergo any police, character, health or other checks required.
The key duties of the position, includes:
- Undertake salary and related employee entitlement processing on a fortnightly and monthly basis within strict deadlines
- Undertake taxation tasks for the Department including the monthly BAS and Fringe Benefits Tax compliance activities
- Undertaking general administrative duties associated with the provision of payroll and financial services to the Department
- Preparation of month end journals and maintaining accurate accounts and records
- Contributing to and implement improved relevant business operational procedure and guidelines and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Undertake various monthly balance sheet reconciliations, strong data analysis skills and stakeholder engagement to rectify issues.
- Assist other teams including assets management and CBMS reporting
- Assist with the preparation of Financial Statements for the Department and respond to audit queries
- Work collaboratively as a team member and maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
CFO Assist
The Finance Business Partners section presents a dynamic role, where we are looking for enthusiastic and adaptable Finance Officer interested in meaningful work who has an understanding the accounting function to operate within the CFO Assist function presenting a customer service approach and strong work ethic.

- Be an Australian citizen at the time of application
- Will or have completed tertiary qualifications in Accounting (for Payroll Accountant) or other discipline (CFO Assist) by 31 July 2024
- Has relevant work experience in a small Finance team
- Currently hold or will be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance at Baseline level
- Be willing to undergo any police, character, health or other checks required.
The key duties of the position, includes:
- Providing assistance and advice with Finance’s expense management system
- Providing advice and assistance with Finance’s credit card administration
- Updating vendor and customer details within Finance’s SAP system
- Preparation of month end journals and maintaining accurate accounts and records
- Providing advice and assistance to internal stakeholders within Finance as the ‘front door’ to the CFO Branch
- Work collaboratively as a team member and maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Undertaking general administrative duties associated with the provision of payroll and financial services to the Department
- Contributing to and implement improved relevant business operational procedure and guidelines and identifying opportunities for continuous improvements
