European Train Control system (ETCS) is a major transport project currently underway in Queensland, it will set the foundation for a world-class, integrated public transport system in SEQ that will transform Queensland Rail and the way we operate.

 

The Major Projects Integration (MPI) Group Function was established in late 2019 with the sole purpose of managing the delivery and assurance of the Cross River Rail and ETCS mega projects.  Our team operates in a matrix structure and is comprised of delivery and service functions. We are part of the broader Queensland Rail organisation.

 

 

About this role:

 

We have an opportunity for a motivated, passionate and results driven professional with an Accounting background to join our MPI Finance team in the role of Finance Reporting Lead on an initial fixed term 18mth contract with the possibility of extension.

 

This role will be embedded within the Cross River Rail ETCS Sequence Alliance, and be responsible for the development and compilation of monthly financial analysis and reporting for budget and forecasting. There will also be a large focus on partnering with the Sequence ETCS Alliance Management Team, and the Project Performance Teams to ensure that all financial reporting is delivered timely and accurately. This role will be responsible for liaising with the MPI & Corporate Services Finance team with regards to the financial performance of the project.

 

In addition to above you will also play a key role in the following deliverables:

 

  • Lead the financial reporting for the ETCS Alliance project to support business initiatives and strategies whilst maintaining strong financial governance.
  • Develop and produce monthly management reports and dashboards.
  • Support Senior Managers, Business Leaders and other project stakeholders with operational project estimates and budgeting, maintaining standardised project Cost Breakdown Structures and Control Accounts that support integrated cost, schedule and earned value performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with Finance policies and escalate issues, risks and opportunities as necessary.
  • Support the administration of the project controls system, Contruent (previously PRISM).

 

At a minimum to succeed at a minimum you will have the following experience/skillset and pre-employment qualification:

 

  • High level of skill in modelling, financial performance reporting, analytical, and organisational skills. (Advanced Excel and Intermediate Power Bi)
  • Stakeholder Management across all levels and ability to partner with the business and form strong and collaborative relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of the strategic commercial and financial issues facing a large infrastructure business
  • Extensive knowledge of financial and accounting standards, generally acceptable accounting principles and legislation
  • Have experience within a Projects environment supporting project lifecycle financial requirements.
  • A working knowledge of Contruent (formerly PRISM) would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided.
  • High attention to detail and strong literacy and communication skills.
  • CPA/CA qualified with 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics is required for this position
