A remote local council is seeking an experienced professional financial accountant to join their team on a permanent basis.
Your new role
Your new role exists to provide budget planning, compliance and reporting to the organisation's CFO in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with the Council's policies and objectives.
- The position will be responsible for providing a high level of financial analysis, system management and compliance reporting, enabling the CFO and the wider organisation with meaningful recommendations
- Maintain the organisation's 10-year financial forecast, analysing results and providing commentary on key movements
- Support and consistently improve the councils' financial systems
- Prepare the budget for the Council's Overhead & Oncost methodology
- Provide support and advice to the organisation on all aspects of budgeting including; Operational Plans, Risk Registers and Capital Budgeting
- Allocate tasks and ensure they are consistently completed within agreed timeframes
What you'll need to succeed
You have a manufacturing and costing background.
- Experience in a similar senior role
- Experience in the development of financial policy and procedures
- Experience in developing, managing and reporting both operational and capital budget and forecast models
- Experience using the relevant financial systems including Authority, Content Manger and Excel
- Great problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
- Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and manage tasks effectively
- Understanding of Operational Plan and Risk Frameworks is desirable
- Currently hold a C Class Driver's Licence
- Have a relevant Degree in Accounting, Commerce or related field
- CPA or CA qualification is not mandatory but highly regarded
- Previous experience working in local government or similar environment is highly regarded
